Casey Wasserman is a Los Angeles-based entertainment and sports executive, CEO of Wasserman Media Group, and grandson of legendary MCA/Universal chairman Lew Wasserman. His connection to Jeffrey Epstein spans at least a decade (2002–2012) and is documented through 122 emails in the Epstein archive, flight logs, FBI interview records, and staff correspondence.
The archive reveals three explosive dimensions to Wasserman's involvement. First, he carried on an intensely sexual correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell in 2003, during which he asked her to "book that massage" and described the "massage concept" continuing "into your bed...and then again in the morning." Given Maxwell's now-proven role as Epstein's primary sex trafficking facilitator — where "massages" were the standard euphemism for sexual encounters with victims — this language is deeply significant. Second, an FBI interview places Wasserman aboard Epstein's Boeing 727 alongside "about four young women aged 20 to 22 years old" including a masseuse and a model there to "scout girls," during which Epstein was observed sexually groping a woman. Third, Wasserman made multiple documented visits to Epstein's private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands after Epstein's 2008 sex offender conviction — including a 2012 stay with his wife and children.
Background#
Casey Wasserman (born c. 1974) is the grandson of Lew Wasserman, the powerful Hollywood executive who ran MCA/Universal for decades. Casey serves as CEO of Wasserman Media Group, LLC, headquartered at 9975 Santa Monica Boulevard, Beverly Hills. He is a prominent figure in the sports and entertainment business, and chaired the successful LA 2028 Olympic bid committee.
A March 2003 Vanity Fair article publicly identified him as "Lew Wasserman's grandson, Casey Wasserman" among the passengers Epstein had recently flown on his Boeing 727 to Africa with President Clinton. Vanity Fair article His contact information was shared with Maxwell in April 2003 via a GoodContacts vCard listing him as CEO of Wasserman Media Group. GoodContacts email
Correspondence with Epstein and Maxwell#
The Massage Request and Sexual Exchange (April 2003)
The most explosive correspondence in the archive is a three-day email exchange between Wasserman and Maxwell in April 2003, revolving around "massage" — the term central to Epstein's entire trafficking operation.
On April 1, 2003, Wasserman emailed Maxwell:
"Where are you, I miss you. I will be in nyc for 4 days starting april 22...can we book that massage now?" Wasserman to Maxwell, April 1, 2003
On April 2, 2003, responding to Maxwell, Wasserman wrote:
"Well I thought we would start at that place that you know of, and then continue the massage concept into your bed...and then again in the morning...not sure if or when we would stop. I am interested in the Cigar concept, and am glad you got all those hours before you fly me! XO" Wasserman to Maxwell, April 2, 2003
Maxwell replied with an explicitly sexual response:
"Umm - all that nabbing - are you sure you can take it? The thought frankly is leaving me a little breathless. There are a few spots that apparently drive a man wild - I suppose I could practise them on you and you could let me know if they work or not? + just for the record the cigar concept currently has pride of place in my bedroom!" Maxwell to Wasserman, April 2-3, 2003
Wasserman replied: "Never...take me! Will you be in nyc when I am there?"
Several elements demand scrutiny. Wasserman asked Maxwell — not a spa — to "book" a massage. He referenced "that place that you know of" — an unidentified location Maxwell was familiar with. The "massage concept" explicitly transitions into Maxwell's bed. The recurring "cigar concept" appears to be a sexual innuendo, potentially referencing the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky scandal. Maxwell's response about practicing techniques that "drive a man wild" mirrors the language of what she trained trafficking victims to do. Whether this exchange describes a personal sexual relationship between Wasserman and Maxwell, or something involving third parties, or both, the use of "massage" terminology with Epstein's chief procurer is deeply troubling.
Intimate Romantic Relationship with Maxwell (March–April 2003)
The massage exchange sits within a much larger pattern of sexually charged correspondence. Wasserman and Maxwell share 113 emails in the archive, making her by far his most frequent co-correspondent.
On March 14, 2003, Maxwell wrote to Wasserman:
"2 firsts today - I landed in PB this morning and for the first time climbed into 491 GM and flew off...Thought of you at inappropriate moments. Gx" Maxwell to Wasserman, March 14, 2003
Wasserman replied:
"I think of you all the time...So what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather outfit? I am in NY tonight, youre not, what am I to do?" Wasserman to Maxwell
Maxwell responded:
"Casey - I will be coming back to NY tom late afternoon. I shall be wearing a tight leather flying suit..." Maxwell to Wasserman
This led to a hotel room invitation from Wasserman:
"room 604 at the regency..." Wasserman to Maxwell
Maxwell replied: "Tease! I don't often wish I was in NY on a Sunday evening." She followed up: "I'll be back in NY tom...Don't we need to meet and have a very important meeting? Are you sure that a breakfast meeting is out of the question - an early breakfast meeting?" Maxwell to Wasserman
On April 6–7, 2003, Maxwell told Wasserman that "JE has just asked me to find a house to rent for 2 weeks...in Malibu in June." Wasserman recommended Carbon Beach: "I like Carbon Beach the best, and of course, that is where my house is." Malibu house exchange This is significant because it shows Maxwell operating at Epstein's direction ("JE has just asked me") while simultaneously conducting an intimate relationship with Wasserman — and positioning Epstein to spend two weeks near Wasserman's Malibu home.
The flirtation continued with Maxwell asking:
"What foggy enough so that you can float naked down the beach and no one can see you unless they are close up? Gx" Maxwell to Wasserman
Wasserman: "You, me, and not else much..."
Maxwell: "Ok, so that combo did not do it for you, what combo would then?"
Maxwell: "Ok, you will not have to share me with either a cheddar cheese, a baked bean or a kitkat."
On April 12, 2003, Maxwell asked to fly back to New York with Wasserman, signing off "Kisses, Ghislaine" and noting she would stay at the Peninsula Hotel. Maxwell to Wasserman, April 12
In one exchange, Maxwell mentioned: "Hey Burkle is calling me - do you know what he wants?" — indicating Wasserman and Maxwell shared mutual connections with billionaire Ron Burkle. Maxwell to Wasserman Maxwell also referenced "Larry Paige" (Larry Page, Google co-founder) in correspondence with Wasserman. Maxwell-Wasserman thread
Visits to Epstein Properties#
Africa Trip on Epstein's Boeing 727 (September 2002)
Casey Wasserman and Laura Wasserman are listed on the official trip manifest for every leg of a multi-country Africa trip aboard Epstein's Boeing 727 (tail number N90856) in September 2002: New York → Accra → Kumasi → Abuja → Kigali → Maputo → Cape Town → Johannesburg. Africa trip manifest Flight logs from the Bryant v. Indyke litigation confirm "WASSERMAN" and "CASEY" as passengers. Flight logs
Fellow passengers included President Bill Clinton, Kevin Spacey, Chris Tucker, Ron Burkle, Rodney Slater, Doug Band, Ghislaine Maxwell, and Jeffrey Epstein. Dan Rather joined for the Cape Town leg.
FBI Interview: Young Women on the Africa Flight
An FBI 302 interview of Greg Bledsoe, conducted July 22, 2019, provides critical context for this trip. Bledsoe told the FBI:
"On the jet with them was PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON and his staffers DAVID SLADE and DOUG BLAND, four to five Secret Services agents, KEVIN SPACEY, CHRIS TUCKER, RONALD BURKLE, CASEY WASSERMAN AND HIS WIFE, RODNEY SLATER...GHISLAINE MAXWELL, and about four young women aged 20 to 22 years old." FBI 302 Interview of Greg Bledsoe
Bledsoe told the FBI that one of the young women was "a masseuse" and another was "a model" there to "scout girls." He further described witnessing Epstein grab and rub a woman's buttocks and described someone shutting a bedroom door to prevent him from seeing what was happening inside. FBI 302 Interview
Casey Wasserman was aboard this aircraft for all legs of the trip and would have been in direct proximity to these young women and Epstein's behavior.
St. Thomas Visit (May 2009) — Post-Conviction
In May 2009 — approximately one year after Epstein's 2008 guilty plea and sex offender registration — Wasserman visited St. Thomas. Epstein staff member Brice Gordon emailed about preparations:
"Will arrange accommodation at the Ritz, and make sure Mr. Casey and Boat Captains are on call. Do you wish for me to be at LSJ during this time." Brice Gordon email
Epstein personally replied regarding Wasserman's visit:
"only if convenient, i want sylvina to be his land guide." Epstein to Gordon, May 2009
The reference to "LSJ" (Little St. James) and "Boat Captains" indicates the visit involved Epstein's private island. Notably, Gordon also asked "what are the chances that DPNR will visit that week?" — DPNR being the Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources — suggesting concern about government inspections during Wasserman's stay. Gordon email
St. Thomas Visit (November 2011)
An email to Marc Dober confirms another visit:
"Just a heads up that we have a painter for the island arriving into STT at the same time as you on a different flight. He will be riding with you from the airport with Mr. Casey." STT arrival email, November 2011
Little St. James Island Stay (June 2012)
In June 2012, Wasserman and his wife Paula stayed on or near Little St. James Island long enough for staff to arrange a farewell dinner. LSJ Island Manager Karen emailed Epstein:
"Brice and I were hoping to take Casey and his wife Paula out for a farewell dinner this week, Paula has called to say that they have managed to get a sitter for tonight." Karen to Epstein, June 2012
Epstein approved the dinner. The reference to "a sitter" indicates Wasserman brought children to Epstein's island — this in 2012, four years after Epstein's sex offender conviction and while Epstein remained a registered sex offender.
