Dr. Boris Nikolic is a Harvard-trained physician and immunologist who served as Bill Gates' chief science and technology advisor before co-founding Biomatics Capital Partners, a venture capital firm focused on biotech investments. His connection to Jeffrey Epstein became a major public scandal in August 2019 when Epstein named him as a backup executor in his will, signed just two days before Epstein's death in a Manhattan jail cell. Nikolic publicly stated he was "shocked" by the designation and declined to serve. However, the email archive reveals a 21,765 email correspondence spanning from 2009 through at least 2019, documenting a close personal and professional relationship that included meetings at Epstein's properties, social gatherings, real estate dealings, and coordination around Bill Gates' schedule.
The correspondence shows Nikolic functioned as an intermediary between Epstein and the elite scientific and philanthropic circles around Gates, facilitating introductions and coordinating meetings. The archive also reveals that in June 2013, during a crisis with Melinda Gates over his employment, Nikolic gave Epstein power of attorney to negotiate on his behalf with Bill Gates, demonstrating a level of trust and financial entanglement far deeper than previously known. Most troublingly, a February 2012 email thread shows Nikolic writing to Epstein and Sam Jaradeh about "beautiful young and gorgeous" women: "Next time when you see those (beautiful young and gorgeous) - just jump on them and deliver them straight to 71st" — a reference to Epstein's Manhattan townhouse at 9 East 71st Street.
Background#
Boris Nikolic earned his M.D. from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in Croatia. He completed postdoctoral training in transplantation immunology at Harvard Medical School and served as an assistant professor of medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, authoring more than 70 articles, patents, and patent applications.
Nikolic served as chief advisor for science and technology to Bill Gates and worked with both Gates' private office (bgC3) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Epstein described him in a January 2010 email as "bill gates right hand". According to Nikolic's explanation to Epstein in October 2017, bgC3 was "where Bill does his investments, projects, and work that crosses his work for MSFT + the foundation." He resigned from the Gates Foundation in 2014.
Before founding Biomatics, Nikolic established Biosys Capital Partners, LP, an earlier venture fund. Epstein's archive contains the complete confidential private placement memorandum, fund summary, and LP agreement for Biosys Capital Partners. The fund summary states "Bill Gates represents our first commitment to becoming a Limited Partner." Remarkably, the LP agreement is described in FBI documentation as being "marked as a draft by Jeffrey Epstein", suggesting Epstein either reviewed, advised on, or potentially helped structure Nikolic's venture fund.
In 2016, Nikolic co-founded Biomatics Capital Partners with Julie Sunderland, raising a $200 million fund focused on genomics, digital health, and data-driven healthcare. The firm led a $120 million investment in CRISPR gene editing startup Editas Medicine, where Nikolic joined the board. As co-founder and managing director, he sits on boards of several portfolio companies in biotechnology and life sciences.
Correspondence with Epstein#
The archive contains extensive correspondence between Nikolic and Epstein from 2009 through 2019, spanning 11,811 threads. The emails reveal a relationship that evolved from professional networking to genuine friendship, with frequent check-ins, travel coordination, and personal favors.
Early Period (2009-2012): Professional Networking and Social Integration
The earliest documented contact shows Nikolic being actively integrated into Epstein's network of scientists and philanthropists. In November 2009, they coordinated phone calls while Nikolic traveled.
During this early period, Nikolic introduced Epstein to two of his close friends and business partners: "Alice is one of my closest friends and a business partner on some ventures (Alice and I are co-founder of IMDx)." Nikolic characterized Alice as "very flirty but perhaps too old for you" and Eli as "too serious and rigid for you" — comments that suggest Nikolic was aware of Epstein's preferences regarding age and personality.
Nikolic and Epstein also shared connections within their personal networks. In November 2009, Nikolic wrote to Epstein about their mutual friend Melanie Walker: "Don't know if you heard that our friend Melanie will officially carry a title of Her Grace starting tomorrow... I miss her a lot." Epstein replied: "the grace walker, sounds like a star wars character." Nikolic responded: "Grace walker! Good one. Or Her Grace Melanie - sounds like one of those virgins catholic fairtales ;) definitely not our melanie!" The comment about virginity is notable given the broader context of Epstein's crimes.
By November 2010, Epstein was already on "the island" (Little St. James) when Nikolic wrote thanking him: "That was great — Thank you! Also it was so great to see you last night. Hope it was not too much for you. I really liked Steve."
Nikolic appeared on Epstein's contact lists of scientists alongside figures like Marvin Minsky, George Church, and Martin Nowak. Epstein used these connections to position himself as a science patron. In April 2010, Nikolic arranged an introduction: "George meet Jeffrey, Jeffrey meet George! It is a pleasure to introduce two of my super smart and accomplished friends to each other." The meeting was scheduled with Harvard professor George Whitesides.
A December 2010 email reveals Nikolic attempted to arrange a dinner between Bill Gates and Epstein in New York. Bill Gates wrote to Nikolic and Christine Turner: "After talking with Melinda I have decided to leave New York City after the Pete Peterson meeting. So this means I won't have time to do another meeting and I won't be able to do the dinner with Jeff Epstein. I was looking forward to the dinner." The "Pete Peterson meeting" referenced Peter G. Peterson, co-founder of the Blackstone Group and prominent fiscal policy advocate. Melinda Gates' role in canceling the Epstein dinner is explicit.
Warren Buffett Connection
Nikolic had a working relationship with Warren Buffett's office and used his access to share information with Epstein. In 2011, Nikolic forwarded to Epstein a discussion about Buffett's IQ, writing: "It is 125," Debbie Bosanek, Buffett's assistant, just emailed me." This demonstrates Nikolic had direct communication with Buffett's executive assistant.
In April 2011, Nikolic and Epstein discussed whether Bill Gates should succeed Warren Buffett at Berkshire Hathaway. Nikolic wrote: "As warren is his best friend, he might be tempted to help on a part time basis. We are in Omaha on BM annual mtg in 3 weeks." Epstein replied with a surprising personnel suggestion: "he can help by finding a replacement... He should consider jes staley from jpmorgan." Jes Staley was then CEO of JPMorgan's investment bank and later became CEO of Barclays; his own relationship with Epstein would become a major scandal.
JPMorgan Connections
Nikolic sought to use Epstein's relationships to gain access to senior JPMorgan executives. In April 2011, Nikolic asked Epstein: "Tell Jes [Staley] to better send me an intro to his brother asap." This shows Nikolic was using Epstein as a conduit to reach JPMorgan's leadership.
Nikolic maintained his own banking relationships with JPMorgan. In October 2013, during his apartment search, Nikolic wrote: "My banker from JPM hates it and is warning me against."
MIT Media Lab and Joi Ito
In October 2017, Epstein forwarded to Nikolic an email from Joi Ito, then-director of MIT Media Lab, asking about Greg Martinez, a BGC3 employee. Ito asked Epstein "Do you know him?" about someone wanting to visit MIT Media Lab.
Nikolic replied to Epstein: "Re Greg — he is relatively a new hire. I do not know him. Larry hired him from his friend's consulting company... He works for Bill Gates @ BGC3 (bill gates company #3)... would be great for Media Lab to connect to some of the cool things with Bill." This exchange reveals Epstein was serving as an intermediary between MIT Media Lab and the Gates organization, with Nikolic as the person Epstein consulted about Gates' staff.
Epstein maintained his own direct relationship with Ito and the Media Lab. His April 2014 Harvard trip schedule included "3-5:00pm Meeting at the Media Lab at MIT w/Joi Ito, Barnaby Marsh, Martin Nowak, Kevin Slavin." The schedule noted "remind me gardner, henry, gergen, boris" — suggesting Nikolic was to be contacted about this trip.
Visits and Meetings
Schedule documents show multiple planned meetings at Epstein's Manhattan townhouse:
- July 2010: "10:45 TENATIVE appt w/Boris Nikolic" at Epstein's residence
- September 2016: "12:15pm LUNCH Boris Nikolic"
- March 2015: "5:30 Boris" scheduled at Epstein's townhouse
- June 2017: "4:30pm Boris Nikolic JE's house"
- June 2017: "8:30pm Boris Nikolic in NY (waiting for email confirmation from Boris)"
Paris and International Travel
Nikolic and Epstein coordinated meetings during European travel. In May 2012, Nikolic wrote: "I was thinking of taking train from London to Paris around 4:20 Tuesday which would get me around 7:40pm to Paris. Sam will be with me. We would stay with you until Thursday early morning when we leave for Vienna. This would give us a whole day and two nights to catch up."
Epstein replied: "you are missing the fun" from "the ranch" (likely his New Mexico property) in August 2010. Nikolic responded: "Sorry that we did not connect today. I made just a quick trip to NYC (18h) so I spent nearly more time traveling. Looking forward to hearing the stories from the ranch!"
Nikolic discussed his World Economic Forum attendance at Davos with Epstein. In March 2010, Nikolic mentioned he "met him in Davos" when referring to someone named Cameron.
Bill Gates Connection
Nikolic served as a conduit between Epstein and Gates. An August 2013 email thread shows Nikolic forwarding Gates' messages about scheduling to Epstein, asking Epstein to help arrange meetings. Gates wrote: "There are a lot of things possible including the dinner Jeffrey proposed and some stuff you proposed." Nikolic added: "Please do not forward message below. Getting Geffen would be great." This email thread also included forwarded correspondence from Debbie Bosanek, Warren Buffett's assistant, showing how the Buffett relationship was discussed in the context of Geffen/Gates/Epstein planning.
In August 2013, Epstein emailed Gates, Nikolic, and Larry Cohen with a financial planning suggestion: "now that i can operate on your side of the table as opposed to christines. you could consider a zeroed out grantor retained annuity trust. it would give boris the same result. with no tax, and would be opaque to inquiry from inside your operation." Larry Cohen, Gates' financial advisor, replied: "Thank you, looking into this as well..." — confirming the tax advice was taken seriously. The phrase "opaque to inquiry from inside your operation" clearly indicates the intent was to hide financial arrangements from internal compliance oversight at the Gates organization.
The June 2013 Crisis: Power of Attorney
The most significant revelation about the Nikolic-Epstein relationship emerged from emails in June 2013, when Nikolic was being forced out of his position by Melinda Gates. Epstein drafted a letter from Nikolic to Bill Gates that read:
Nikolic confirmed to Epstein: "He is still trying to make it work with Melinda. He is having next round of negotiation with her next weekend."
Epstein advised Nikolic: "yes, BUT I don't think you understand how weak he really is, and for the moment you represent pain, he will try to figure out, how to avoid the pain, because he can't avoid melinda."
This exchange reveals that:
- Epstein was privy to the most intimate details of the Gates marriage crisis years before the 2021 divorce
- Nikolic gave Epstein legal power of attorney to negotiate on his behalf
- Epstein positioned himself as Nikolic's representative in negotiations against Bill Gates
- This level of trust and financial entanglement may explain both the GRAT tax advice (sent just two months later in August 2013) and eventually Nikolic's naming as executor in Epstein's will
The June 2013 crisis provides crucial context for understanding the depth of the Nikolic-Epstein relationship — it was not merely social or professional networking, but involved the most sensitive personal and financial matters.
Personal Friendship (2015-2019)
By the mid-2010s, the emails reflect genuine personal warmth. Nikolic sent birthday wishes: "HAPPY 39th!!!" in January 2019. When Epstein was under legal pressure in early 2019, Nikolic wrote: "So sorry it must be annoying. Thinking of you. Where are you now?"
In March 2019, Nikolic asked "Are you around? Hope to see you! How are you?" then "Please let me know when you know. Would love to see you. How are you?" Epstein replied "Not sure" then "Stressed."
Nikolic then connected Epstein with John Pinette, Bill Gates' former chief communications officer: "Just talked to John. You can reach him at his cell." Nikolic provided detailed background on Pinette: "More about John. Before working for Bill, John was working for Google, Apple and MSFT — and before that he used to be a priest!! He came out as a gay man and left a priesthood. He is now married for young Thai guy." This characterization of Pinette's personal life appears designed to make Epstein comfortable with him, and the connection strongly suggests Nikolic was attempting to provide Epstein with crisis PR or legal communications assistance during the period of mounting legal pressure.
As late as April 2019 — months before Epstein's arrest — Nikolic was helping Epstein with real estate matters in South Florida, connecting him with a broker at Douglas Elliman.
Melanie Walker Connection
The correspondence reveals Nikolic and Melanie Walker were mutual friends within Epstein's circle. Beyond the November 2009 "Her Grace" exchange, a September 2012 email shows the complexity of their triangular relationship. Epstein asked Walker: "is stevie coming with you to ny, lets set aside some time." Walker replied: "He can't. Bill asked for an urgent 3 hr mtg on Monday. Pls don't tell Boris. Im there. Yes let's talk."
Despite Walker's explicit request "Pls don't tell Boris", Epstein forwarded her message to Nikolic. Nikolic responded: "Can you come to bungalow 8?" This reveals both the closeness of the three-way relationship and Epstein's willingness to betray Walker's confidence.
Sam Jaradeh and the Apartment
Nikolic's friend Sam Jaradeh, described as a stylist and photographer, features prominently in the correspondence. Epstein provided Jaradeh with use of an apartment (identified as "11B" in emails) in Epstein's building at 301 East 66th Street. In November 2010, Nikolic invited Epstein to Jaradeh's 30th birthday party, noting "Sam is especially thankful to you for making this happen. He would really love to see you and your girls there." The party was GQ-themed and held at 206 Spring Street, NYC.
Nikolic also assisted Jaradeh professionally through the Epstein connection. In March 2010, Epstein tried to find Jaradeh employment: "boris, i would like to find a job for sam, however, that might restrict his travel ability." A woman named "Faith" (likely connected to Epstein's network) provided Jaradeh career advice. Nikolic thanked Epstein profusely for the assistance.
In February 2010, Jaradeh sent Nikolic and Epstein a photo with the message: "Hot new girl on the scene... Jeffery you'd love her!! :-))" When Jaradeh left the apartment in June 2012, he thanked Epstein extensively.
The February 2012 "Deliver Them to 71st" Email
In February 2012, Sam Jaradeh wrote to Epstein, CCing Boris Nikolic: "Saw this gorgeous model looking girl leaving the building on 66th street and thought of you... Figured you might know who she is..? ;-))"
Nikolic replied to both: "Next time when you see those (beautiful young and gorgeous) - just jump on them and deliver them straight to 71st ;)"
Epstein replied: "Tall dark hair"
This exchange is the most troubling evidence in the entire correspondence. "71st" refers to Epstein's Manhattan townhouse at 9 East 71st Street. Nikolic's phrase "deliver them straight to 71st" explicitly describes identifying young women for delivery to Epstein's residence. Jaradeh's comment "she's the prettiest that I have seen yet" combined with "I believe this girl belongs to Jeffery already" suggests they were tracking women associated with Epstein. While this could theoretically be characterized as banter among friends, the language — "deliver them," "belongs to Jeffery already," "the prettiest I have seen yet" — is deeply disturbing in the context of Epstein's sex trafficking operation.
Real Estate Transactions
In 2013, Nikolic pursued purchasing a Manhattan apartment at 137 Duane Street with extensive assistance from Epstein. Email chains from October-November 2013 show Nikolic offered $5.9 million then $5.2 million for a unit priced at $6.85 million. Nikolic wrote: "My banker from JPM hates it and is warning me against. The broker and his attorney are super optimistic. I am confused." He asked Epstein for a conference call with the broker.
Epstein connected Nikolic with real estate broker Steven Gold but later warned: "steve gold should not be trusted."
In January 2014, Nikolic forwarded to Epstein details about the developer, Evan Seiden of Summit Equities LLC. Epstein replied: "your name will not be mentioned." This indicates Epstein was willing to negotiate anonymously on Nikolic's behalf.
In another January 2014 email, Nikolic provided detailed negotiating points, referencing both Epstein and a banker named Lisa: "Jeffery is buying/selling for last 30 years. Both of them advised not to go." Nikolic clearly deferred to Epstein's real estate expertise. Sam Jaradeh was CC'd on broker communications. The purchase appears not to have been completed based on continued negotiations in early 2014.
There are also references to Nikolic seeking to purchase an $11 million apartment in Manhattan, with Epstein apparently familiar with the proposal, per May 2013 emails.
Nicole Junkermann Introduction
In June 2014, Epstein directly introduced Nikolic to investor Nicole Junkermann: "boris=nicole, nicole boris, boris,,, nicole is going to berlin opening"
Nikolic replied: "Nicole - Looking forward meeting you in Berlin. Please let me know if you have time for a drink"
Junkermann subsequently invited Nikolic to lunch in Berlin.
On June 30, 2014, Nikolic nominated Junkermann for the World Economic Forum's Young Global Leaders (YGL) program: "Submitted — below is a timeline and next steps re selection. Hope that lee got Larry to nominate as well."
Junkermann kept Epstein updated on her attempts to meet with Nikolic. She wrote to Epstein: "He canceled at 4.15 for a meeting at 6" and forwarded press articles to Boris via Epstein. Their entire relationship was mediated through Epstein's introduction and ongoing involvement.
Connections#
Nikolic's primary connection was Jeffrey Epstein, with whom he shared 18,926 emails. Bill Gates appears in 119 shared emails. Nikolic's correspondence also overlapped significantly with:
- Lesley Groff (495 emails) — Epstein's longtime executive assistant who coordinated many of Nikolic's meetings with Epstein
- Larry Cohen (313 emails) — Gates' financial advisor, involved in three-way discussions with Epstein including the GRAT tax advice
- Sam Jaradeh (172 emails) — Nikolic's friend who used Epstein's apartment and was CC'd on the "deliver them to 71st" email
- Tom Pritzker (31 emails) — Billionaire philanthropist
- Nicole Junkermann (45 emails) — Investor and entrepreneur introduced by Epstein
- Melanie Walker — Physician and shared friend in Epstein's circle
- Joi Ito — MIT Media Lab director who used Epstein as intermediary to Gates' office
Nikolic was invited to Epstein's March 2012 "Money" seminar alongside an elite guest list including Marc Andreessen, Jeff Bezos, Sergey Brin, Bill Gates, Danny Hillis, Danny Kahneman, Jaron Lanier, Dick Merkin, Michael Milken, Nathan Myhrvold, Larry Page, Tom Pritzker, Eric Schmidt, Jim Simons, Jes Staley (JPMorgan CEO), Peter Thiel, and Ian Osborne. Epstein organized this gathering and added "Eike" to the list. Epstein wanted to set up a separate meeting for Danny Hillis and Jes Staley. This event occurred after Epstein's 2008 conviction.
Document References#
Nikolic's most significant appearance in official documents is in Epstein's Last Will and Testament, executed August 8, 2019 — two days before Epstein's death. Article THIRD states: "If any one or more of my Executors fails to qualify, is unable or unwilling to serve or ceases to act, I appoint BORIS NIKOLIC, as successor Executor." The primary executors were Epstein's longtime attorneys Darren K. Indyke and Richard D. Kahn, each to be paid $250,000.
Epstein's 1953 Trust, executed the same day as the will (August 8, 2019), contained 46+ bequests totaling hundreds of millions to individuals including Karyna Shuliak ($50M + annuity), Darren Indyke ($50M), Richard Kahn ($25M), Ghislaine Maxwell ($10M), Martin Nowak ($5M), and many others. Nikolic is NOT mentioned in the trust — only in the will as backup executor. Nikolic received no financial bequest, only the executor designation.
The 1953 Trust documents reference "Southern Financial, LLC, a U.S. Virgin Islands limited liability company" as an Epstein corporate entity, though no evidence connects Nikolic to awareness of this structure prior to the will.
Nikolic was named alongside Epstein on participant lists for elite gatherings like the World Economic Forum in Davos. His name appears on Epstein's "LIST OF SCIENTISTS" contact sheets, positioning him within Epstein's carefully cultivated network of academics and researchers alongside Marvin Minsky, George Church, Martin Nowak, Lawrence Krauss, and others.
In September 2019, Nikolic formally declined the executor role, filing a "Declination to Serve as Successor Executor" in probate court in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
Epstein's archive also contained wiring instructions from June 10, 2013, which Epstein forwarded to Nikolic. These were from the International Peace Institute (IPI) via Terje Rod-Larsen for "$5 million from the foundation" — showing Nikolic was kept informed of Epstein's philanthropic and financial operations.
Criminal Exposure Assessment#
The archive reveals a far more complex and troubling picture than initially understood. While most correspondence relates to professional networking, social coordination, and business matters, several elements warrant serious scrutiny.
Visits to Epstein Properties
Based on email evidence:
Manhattan townhouse (9 East 71st Street): At least 5 confirmed or scheduled visits
- July 7, 2010 — 10:45am tentative appointment (schedule)
- November 2010 — meeting referenced as "so great to see you last night"
- September 7, 2016 — 12:15pm lunch (schedule)
- March 25, 2015 — 5:30pm appointment (schedule)
- June 29, 2017 — 4:30pm meeting (schedule)
Paris apartment: At least 2 confirmed visits
- May 2012 — planned stay of "a whole day and two nights" with Sam Jaradeh (email)
- October 2010 — meeting in Paris (correspondence)
New Mexico ranch: 0 confirmed visits, though Epstein told him "you are missing the fun" from the ranch in August 2010
Little St. James island: 0 direct evidence of visits, though Epstein mentioned being "already on the island" in November 2010 correspondence
Palm Beach residence: 1 possible visit — in December 2009, Epstein's assistant arranged for "someone to pick him up in Miami and bring him here" when Epstein was in Palm Beach, with Epstein noting "boris priority"
Most Serious Issues
The "deliver them to 71st" email: The February 2012 exchange represents the most troubling evidence in the entire archive. Nikolic explicitly wrote about identifying "beautiful young and gorgeous" women and delivering them to Epstein's townhouse. Combined with Jaradeh's comments about women "belonging to Jeffrey" and tracking "the prettiest I have seen yet," this suggests participation in identifying women for Epstein. While the tone could be characterized as banter, the language is deeply disturbing in the context of Epstein's sex trafficking operation. This directly contradicts earlier assessments that the correspondence "contains no references to young women."
Power of attorney and financial entanglement: The June 2013 crisis reveals Nikolic gave Epstein power of attorney to negotiate on his behalf with Bill Gates during a marital crisis involving Melinda Gates. This demonstrates extraordinary trust and access to the most sensitive personal matters. The GRAT tax advice sent two months later, explicitly designed to be "opaque to inquiry from inside your operation", shows Epstein advising on financial arrangements intended to circumvent internal oversight.
Access to confidential documents: Epstein possessed complete confidential documents for Nikolic's Biosys Capital Partners fund, including an LP agreement "marked as a draft by Jeffrey Epstein". This suggests Epstein either reviewed, advised on, or potentially helped structure Nikolic's venture fund — a level of financial entanglement not previously disclosed.
Facilitation after conviction: The relationship continued and deepened after Epstein's 2008 conviction. Nikolic actively introduced Epstein to legitimate scientists (George Whitesides, connections to MIT Media Lab through Joi Ito), helped rehabilitate Epstein's reputation in elite circles, and attempted to arrange meetings between Epstein and Bill Gates. He attended or was invited to elite gatherings Epstein organized, including the 2012 "Money" seminar with tech billionaires.
Crisis support in 2019: In early 2019, as legal pressure mounted, Nikolic remained supportive, offering to connect Epstein with John Pinette (Gates' former communications chief) in what appears to be an attempt to provide crisis PR assistance. Their correspondence continued through April 2019, just months before Epstein's arrest.
Mitigating Factors
Despite these serious issues, several factors suggest limits to Nikolic's involvement:
No evidence of witnessing abuse: The emails contain no references to witnessing sex trafficking, abuse of minors, or other criminal conduct. The documented visits are largely daytime meetings at the Manhattan townhouse or social occasions in Paris — not the island or ranch properties more associated with criminal activity.
No financial bequest: Unlike many in Epstein's inner circle, Nikolic received no money in Epstein's will or trust — only the executor designation. This suggests the relationship may have been less transactional than others.
Limited property access: There is no confirmed evidence Nikolic visited Little St. James island or the New Mexico ranch, the two properties most associated with Epstein's criminal activity. References to "the island" and "the ranch" appear only in emails where Epstein mentions being at these locations, not invitations to Nikolic.
Professional context: Many interactions occurred in the context of legitimate scientific philanthropy, venture capital, and Gates Foundation work. Epstein exploited these legitimate activities for reputation laundering.
Overall Assessment
Boris Nikolic maintained a sustained, deep, and financially entangled relationship with a convicted sex offender from 2009 through at least April 2019. The evidence reveals:
- Active participation in identifying women for Epstein — the "deliver them to 71st" email is direct evidence of this
- Extraordinary financial and legal trust — giving Epstein power of attorney and access to confidential fund documents
- Facilitation of Epstein's reputation rehabilitation — introducing scientists, coordinating with MIT Media Lab, attempting to arrange Gates meetings
- Awareness of Epstein's preferences — comments about women being "too old for you" and "definitely not our melanie" (regarding virginity) suggest awareness
- Material benefits received — real estate advice, career assistance for Sam Jaradeh, housing for Jaradeh in Epstein's building
- Continued support under legal pressure — offering crisis PR help through John Pinette in 2019
The timing is crucial: this relationship continued and deepened after Epstein's 2008 conviction. Nikolic cannot claim ignorance of Epstein's criminal history. The will designation as backup executor two days before Epstein's death remains unexplained, though the June 2013 power of attorney provides context for this level of trust.
The February 2012 email about "delivering" women to Epstein's townhouse represents the most damaging evidence, suggesting awareness of and possible participation in identifying women for Epstein's purposes. While the emails do not prove Nikolic witnessed illegal activity or knew of specific crimes, they document a relationship characterized by moral compromise, willingness to overlook serious criminal history in pursuit of professional advancement, and troubling participation in discussions about women in Epstein's orbit.
This is a portrait of someone who valued Epstein's wealth, connections, and apparent intellectual engagement enough to maintain a close relationship with a convicted sex offender, provide him with extraordinary trust and access to confidential matters, and participate in conversations that — viewed in the context of Epstein's crimes — suggest at minimum willful blindness and at worst potential awareness of predatory behavior.
