# Lawrence Krauss
## Summary
Lawrence Maxwell Krauss is a Canadian-American theoretical physicist and cosmologist who maintained extensive contact with Jeffrey Epstein from at least 2009 through 2019. The archive documents [8,785 emails](/person/lawrence-krauss) between Krauss and Epstein's network over a 33-year period, making him one of the most prolific correspondents in the collection. Krauss organized a 2006 gravity conference funded by Epstein in the U.S. Virgin Islands that included a visit to Epstein's private island, and received approximately [$2.5 million in donations](/drive/vol00009-efta01008505-pdf) from Epstein's Enhanced Education foundation and Leon Black's foundation for his Origins Project at Arizona State University—far exceeding previously reported amounts. When sexual misconduct allegations against Krauss emerged publicly in 2018, he [sought Epstein's advice](/drive/vol00011-efta02495716-pdf) on responding to the accusations and managing the investigation, with Epstein providing detailed strategic guidance throughout the crisis. The correspondence reveals a relationship spanning scientific patronage, personal friendship, and strategic consultation during Krauss's professional crisis, continuing even after Krauss's 2018-2019 settlement with ASU. Krauss maintained this relationship despite [fully knowing](/drive/vol00009-efta00908299-pdf) of Epstein's 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from underage girls, and actively defended Epstein in 2011 by suggesting the victims "knew what they were doing."
## Background
Lawrence Krauss was born May 27, 1954, and is known for his work on dark energy, cosmology, and science popularization. He holds degrees from Carleton University and a Ph.D. in physics from MIT (1982). Krauss taught at Yale University and served as chair of physics at Case Western Reserve University before joining Arizona State University, where he founded and directed the Origins Project in 2008. He has authored several bestselling popular science books including *The Physics of Star Trek* and *A Universe from Nothing*, and is an outspoken atheist and skeptic.
### Case Western Reserve University Allegations (2007-2008)
In fall/December 2007, while Krauss was chair of physics at Case Western Reserve University, a student [filed a complaint](/drive/vol00009-efta00927572-pdf) after Krauss closed his office door during what was supposed to be an interview about women in science, ignored her questions, and made "a casual comment about taking her out for dinner." A dean suspected the student's subsequent column about a "creep of a professor" referred to Krauss "based on [a previously reported incident](/drive/vol00009-efta00927572-pdf) with another student"—indicating this was at least the second complaint involving Krauss and female students at Case Western.
On September 4, 2008, associate VP for student affairs Susan Nickel-Schindewolf [wrote to the student](/drive/vol00009-efta00927572-pdf) that Krauss had been informed "this type of behavior could constitute sexual harassment in violation of the university's sexual harassment policy." The university imposed significant restrictions: Krauss was "prohibited from making contact with the student" and "required to get approval from the dean or the chair of the physics department before setting foot on the campus again." In his December 2017 response to BuzzFeed (which he [shared with Epstein for review](/drive/vol00009-efta00927060-pdf) before sending), Krauss acknowledged: "By that time I learned of the complaint I had already announced my intentions to leave Case to accept an offer at ASU—a very difficult decision for me." Human resources told him "if no further complaints were lodged... the University would remove the complaint from my record after 5 years."
Krauss left Case Western for Arizona State University in August 2008, with his departure announced April 16, 2008.
### 2006 Virgin Islands Conference
In 2006, Krauss helped organize a conference titled ["Confronting Gravity"](https://stthomassource.com/content/2006/03/17/physicists-debate-gravity-st-thomas-symposium/) on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, funded by Epstein's J. Epstein Virgin Islands Inc. foundation. A [press release](/drive/vol00009-efta01105830-pdf) stated: "The conference was financed by science philanthropist, Jeffrey Epstein and his foundation, J. Epstein Virgin Islands Inc." The conference brought together [21 prominent physicists](/drive/vol00009-efta01105830-pdf) including Nobel laureates Gerard 't Hooft, David Gross, and Frank Wilczek, along with Stephen Hawking, Jim Peebles, Alan Guth, Kip Thorne, Lisa Randall, Barry Barish, Maria Spiropulu, and others. The gathering included a dinner visit to Epstein's private island, Little St. James.
Epstein's foundation [website later described](/drive/vol00009-efta01112198-pdf) the Confronting Gravity conference as part of a pattern of Epstein-funded scientific gatherings covering "unified gravity theory, neuroscience, and even artificial intelligence, language theory and global threats to the Earth."
### 2011 Public Defense of Epstein
In April 2011, Krauss gave an interview to *The Daily Beast* defending Epstein following his 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from underage girls. When Rebecca Watson of the skeptic blog Skepchick [asked Krauss to confirm](/drive/vol00009-efta00908299-pdf) his quote, Krauss wrote: "yes it is.. Based on my direct experience with Jeffrey, which is all I can base my assessment on, he is a thoughtful, kind, considerate man who is generous to his friends."
In a longer [statement to Watson](/drive/vol00009-efta00628940-pdf), Krauss elaborated on his defense, acknowledging Epstein's crime but minimizing it: "Jeffrey apparently paid for massages with sex... I believe him when he told me he had no idea the girls were underage... I honestly don't know who was the victim in this case. I fully expect that these masseuses knew what they were doing." This represented explicit victim-blaming of teenage girls who Epstein had paid for sex.
Krauss [posted publicly](/drive/vol00009-efta00628945-pdf) on Watson's blog: "I am VERY skeptical of other claims on his behavior. I am defending Jeffrey for 2 reasons: (1) Based on my knowledge and experience I am skeptical of the claims... (2) Jeffrey went to prison, and I happen to believe that having served time... he is working hard to live a good life and do good things."
In a [private email to Epstein](/drive/vol00009-efta00628940-pdf), Krauss wrote: "Beyond anything else, you are my friend. I hope we can both always remember that, no matter what." When Watson challenged Krauss with evidence from Epstein's guilty plea, Epstein [responded dismissively](/drive/vol00009-efta00908299-pdf): "what evidence? no real sex.. where is she getting her so called facts."
Epstein [appreciated Krauss's defense](/drive/vol00009-efta00908299-pdf), writing "no it was appreciated. thanks" after Krauss forwarded the exchange. Significantly, Epstein then [forwarded Krauss's defense](/drive/vol00009-efta00908323-pdf) to Paul Tweed, likely an attorney, attorney. suggestingThis suggests Epstein used Krauss's public statements strategically for legal or public relations purposes.
Krauss [concluded his involvement](/drive/vol00009-efta00628950-pdf) with satisfaction: "I have decided that Feynman would have done what I did.. and I am therefore content.. no matter what.. :)"
In the *Daily Beast* interview, Krauss stated: "I don't feel tarnished in any way by my relationship with Jeffrey; I feel raised by it."
During this exchange, Krauss also [acknowledged](/drive/vol00009-efta00908299-pdf) that he had personally witnessed young women at Epstein's properties: "Jeffrey has surrounded himself with beautiful women and young women but they're not as young as the ones that were claimed. As a scientist I always judge things on empirical evidence and he always has women ages 19 to 23 around him, but I've never seen anything else." He additionally [wrote to Epstein](/drive/vol00009-efta00628945-pdf): "I have read numerous reports of orgies on Jeffrey's island involving me and other scientists during our meetings.. Orgies that never happened."
### 2016 Australian Skeptics Convention Incident
In November 2016, at the Australian Skeptics National Convention in Melbourne, an incident occurred during a dinner at the Melbourne Zoo. According to [BuzzFeed's December 2017 inquiry](/drive/vol00009-efta00927572-pdf), which Krauss received: "As the woman held out her phone to take the picture, you reached over her shoulder and grabbed her right breast. She immediately reacted, bodychecking you and spinning around. 'Don't do that,' she said." BuzzFeed reported that two eyewitnesses confirmed this account.
In his [detailed response to BuzzFeed](/drive/vol00009-efta00927060-pdf)—which he sent to Epstein as a draft for review on December 10-11, 2017—Krauss quoted extensively from what he said was an Australian National University investigation report, claiming the complaint was dismissed and inconsistencies were found.
On April 5, 2018, ASU Office of Equity and Inclusion investigator Carla Mahnke [informed Krauss](/drive/vol00009-efta00840621-pdf) about "new information my office has received related to the allegation of non-consensual physical contact at the 2016 Australian Skeptics Convention. The new information includes a conversation I have had with a witness, this person was named in the BuzzFeed article, and a conversation with the anonymous female who experienced the nonconsensual physical contact."
In September 2018, as Krauss prepared for his appeal to ASU, he [drafted cross-examination questions](/drive/vol00009-efta01022445-pdf) for Ken Greatorex, Head of Australian Skeptics, asking whether the convention was a scientific conference, whether ASU supported it, and whether attendees at the banquet were all conference participants. This shows Krauss was preparing to argue the incident fell outside ASU's jurisdiction.
BuzzFeed also documented an incident at the March 2008 American Atheists Convention in Minneapolis, where ["attendees including you and Richard Dawkins went for dinner with the student and volunteers for Dawkins' foundation"](/drive/vol00009-efta00927572-pdf) and inappropriate conduct was alleged.
### 2018 BuzzFeed Investigation and ASU Investigation
In February 2018, BuzzFeed News published an investigation detailing a decade of sexual misconduct allegations against Krauss. The inquiry email from reporter Peter Aldhous, dated December 10, 2017, detailed six specific incidents and miscellaneous facts that BuzzFeed was investigating.
Before responding to BuzzFeed, Krauss [sent his draft response to Epstein](/drive/vol00009-efta00927060-pdf) for review and strategic advice. When BuzzFeed asked about one 2006 hotel room incident, Epstein [asked Krauss](/drive/vol00009-efta00927060-pdf): "did You have sex with her). ? Condom ? Did she take it? I wouldn't respond. My advice is consistent. Off the record." Krauss responded: "No. We didn't have sex. Decided it wasn't a good idea."
Arizona State University placed Krauss on paid leave and conducted an investigation that found he violated university sexual harassment policies. During the investigation, [Krauss prepared extensive cross-examination questions](/drive/vol00009-efta01022445-pdf) for multiple witnesses, including: Erin Ellison (OEI Director), Penelope Moon (who reported a conversation with Lucy Hawking regarding an employee), Michelle Iwen (Origins staff), Sydney Lines, Ms. Rad (who provided a video), Dr. Melanie Thomson (who filed the Australian Skeptics complaint), Dr. Michael Marshall (another witness to the Melbourne incident), Amelia Huggins (colleague), Jessica Strycker (assistant), and Cynthia Schulze (Origins Project staff).
Krauss was removed as director of the Origins Project in July 2018. In [settlement negotiations](/drive/vol00009-efta01019075-pdf), his attorney Justin Dillon noted Krauss was "concerned that some of the material in the report could be defamatory of Amelia and Lucy Hawking."
On October 19, 2018, Krauss signed a settlement agreement with ASU negotiated by Dillon and ASU's outside counsel Kimberly Demarchi. His retirement became effective May 16, 2019. Immediately after the settlement was executed, on October 20, 2018, Krauss [forwarded the agreement to Epstein](/drive/vol00009-efta01019075-pdf) and asked for advice on his retirement letter and terminating Justin Dillon as his attorney. Epstein replied: "yes, terminate." Multiple scientific organizations suspended their relationships with Krauss following the allegations.
## Correspondence with Epstein
The archive documents sustained contact between Krauss and Epstein spanning 2009 to 2019, with [8,785 total emails](/person/lawrence-krauss) across 3,861 threads. The correspondence reveals financial support, social interactions, and strategic consultation.
### Financial Support
The financial relationship between Epstein and Krauss's Origins Project was substantially larger than previously reported. According to ASU CFO Virginia DeSanto, the Origins Project [received over 400 gifts](/drive/vol00009-efta01008505-pdf) totaling $3.3 million since 2009. The two largest donors gave cumulative gifts exceeding $300,000 each: Leon Black Family Foundation and Epstein's Enhanced Education foundation. These two donors alone [accounted for approximately 76%](/drive/vol00011-efta02633422-pdf) of total gifts—roughly $2.5 million combined.
In November 2010, Epstein directed a [$100,000 donation](/drive/vol00011-efta02412462-pdf) to the "ASU Foundation--Origins Project" to be sent to Krauss. Enhanced Education's [last donation was $25,000](/drive/vol00009-efta01008505-pdf) received on April 3, 2017, with "earlier gifts from them... presumed spent." BuzzFeed's inquiry also noted Epstein ["most recently pledging $100,000 in 2014"](/drive/vol00011-efta02548795-pdf) to the Origins Project.
In post-settlement financial coordination in December 2018-February 2019, [Richard Kahn reported](/drive/vol00009-efta01008499-pdf) to Epstein: "total number for Leon is now 607k." Epstein instructed: "so both toget is 607 plus our 25, ok"—meaning $607,000 from Leon Black Family Foundation plus $25,000 remaining from Enhanced Education, totaling $632,000 in recoverable funds.
Epstein then [directed both foundations' unspent funds](/drive/vol00009-efta01008505-pdf) be redirected to MIT Media Lab: "consider this your authorization to send both enhanced foundation and black foundation to mit. media lab." In [January-February 2019](/drive/vol00011-efta02633422-pdf), Richard Kahn worked with the ASU Foundation to complete this redirection of approximately $632,000 to MIT.
Krauss shared detailed updates on his work with Epstein. In June 2010, he [provided Epstein](/drive/vol00011-efta02411094-pdf) with his summer conference schedule and outlined five active physics research projects, including work on neutrino physics, dark matter, and gravitational waves. The same month, Krauss discussed personal [financial difficulties](/drive/vol00011-efta02411453-pdf) with Epstein, including a property in Aspen that had lost $65,000 in value and was "essentially right at mortgage, meaning no equity." In this same June 2010 email, Krauss made a [reference to Epstein's plane](/drive/vol00011-efta02411453-pdf): "Hope you understood about the plane.. was happy to go on a trip with you, but the purpose was not to avoid paying for the commercial flight"—suggesting Krauss had traveled or planned to travel on Epstein's aircraft.
Krauss also consulted Epstein on travel plans. In June 2010, he expressed disappointment that Epstein's New Zealand trip was canceled, writing that he was ["sad to hear about NZ, and even sadder to hear that there is no time to even go with you to pick up nancy afterwards... I was tempted to suggest that I fly to Dubai on my own just for the opportunity of doing the latter with you"](/drive/vol00011-efta02411673-pdf).
### Personal Relationship
The emails reflect a friendship extending beyond professional interaction. In June 2010, Krauss [wrote to Epstein](/drive/vol00011-efta02413296-pdf): "I cAlled a few times. Need a friend to talk to. You free at all tonight?" In May 2011, Epstein's staff listed ["Dick Merkin and Lawrence Krauss"](/thread/EFTA02189412) among people Epstein wanted to speak with by phone.
Krauss visited Epstein's properties regularly. In [January 2010](/drive/vol00009-efta00764385-pdf), Krauss was at an Epstein property and emailed: "hi.. problems printing at the hotel.. could someone print my boarding pass tomorrow? Here is the pdf. thanks.. see you tomorrow." The boarding pass was for a commercial flight on January 31, 2010.
On October 15, 2016, Epstein's schedule listed an [appointment with Krauss](/thread/EFTA02191886) at his Manhattan townhouse. In September 2016, Epstein's schedule included ["12:45pm Lunch w/Deepak and Krauss"](/drive/vol00009-efta00318965-pdf) at the townhouse—this "Deepak" was [Deepak Chopra](/drive/vol00009-efta00821662-pdf), the alternative medicine advocate who in August 2016 had written to Epstein about consciousness research and noted: "I have invited skeptics and academics including Krauss and Dawkins and Cox etc. They have never accepted" his Sages and Scientists conference. Yet a month later, Epstein facilitated a lunch between Chopra and Krauss.
On October 9, 2015, Epstein's assistant noted that [Epstein was "hosting Lawrence Krauss and family on the island"](/thread/EFTA02070939) for lunch, with pickup from the Ritz-Carlton at 11:30 a.m.
In April 2019, [Lesley Groff arranged](/thread/EFTA02282693) for Krauss to stay in two apartments at 301 East 66th Street in Manhattan April 17-20, providing access codes for apartment 10F (one bedroom) and 8A (studio). Krauss asked about [using a room in Epstein's townhouse](/drive/vol00009-efta00492633-pdf) to film podcast episodes, writing: "We need quiet and interesting looking room with a table and two chairs at least, where we could set up and shoot.. Might it be possible to find a room in Jeffrey's house that would fit the bill?" Epstein [asked in response](/thread/EFTA02636810): "who is on film in the podacast just you , or you and a guest and if so . who?" Groff later informed Krauss that filming at the townhouse ["won't work though"](/drive/vol00009-efta00492633-pdf).
In July 2017, Krauss coordinated use of Epstein's driver Valdson during [a family trip to Paris](/thread/EFTA02219176), July 13-16. After initial arrangements, Groff informed Krauss that ["Jeffrey requests you please get yourselves rides to/from your hotel with your luggage...but if you need rides during your stay to please reach out to Valdson"](/thread/EFTA02219274).
### Consultation on Sexual Misconduct Allegations
When BuzzFeed News began investigating sexual harassment allegations against Krauss in 2017-2018, Krauss turned to Epstein for advice. The correspondence documents strategic consultation on media responses and legal strategy.
In February 2018, as BuzzFeed prepared to publish, Krauss engaged in [detailed discussions](/thread/EFTA02525474) with Epstein about how to respond to specific allegations, including claims from the Perimeter Institute. On February 14, 2018, Epstein [asked Krauss](/thread/EFTA02525474): "Did you call him," referring to efforts to contact Neil Turok at Perimeter. Krauss responded about attempting to reach Turok by phone and drafting a letter.
Epstein repeatedly advised Krauss to avoid public engagement. On February 28, 2018, Epstein [wrote](/drive/vol00011-efta02518850-pdf): "sorry, you were advised to stay indoorss while the storm passed. you repeatedly went outside and put up some poles." This was in response to Krauss sharing "a revised version of Adam's version" of his public response piece. Epstein continued with warnings about institutional consequences: "congress, nsf. adam wrote that he was your litigation counsel. you will need to address. why universties have RESTRICTED your access. in the past."
When Krauss protested "I am not supported by the nsf. They have nothing to do with me," Epstein [shot back](/drive/vol00011-efta02517526-pdf): "are you suggesting that the school receives no nsf money." Krauss conceded: "But I get your point." The concern was broader institutional fallout—the NSF was implementing new policies to track sexual harassment cases at universities receiving federal funding, and an [embedded news article](/drive/vol00011-efta02517691-pdf) referenced in their exchange described NSF coordination on harassment cases and mentioned "a university placing a faculty member on administrative leave pending an investigation just this past Thursday"—apparently referencing Krauss's situation.
Epstein also confronted Krauss about his denials regarding access restrictions at universities. Epstein stated bluntly: "you will need to address. why universties have RESTRICTED your access. in the past." When Krauss insisted in his draft: "I have never been banned from either institution. That that is a lie," Epstein [pushed back](/drive/vol00011-efta02517691-pdf): "so they wrote restricted, which is true. you wrote it for them, now you want to call banned a lie? that's not what they wrote." Epstein accused Krauss of being "careless with your denials."
In March 2018, Krauss sought to hire attorney Justin Dillon and [arranged for Dillon to speak with Epstein](/drive/vol00011-efta02495716-pdf) about the case. On March 22, 2018, Dillon [confirmed to Krauss](/drive/vol00009-efta00840621-pdf): "I will call Jeffrey as planned at 11 on Saturday." Krauss described Epstein to Dillon as "somewhat infamous" and noted: "Bottom line is that Jeffrey is not only friends with most of the famous people from finance, to business, to Hollywood, who have either been brought down during #metoo and he also speaks regularly with people ranging from the awful white house people, who he is friends with, to ken starr etc." Krauss explained that Epstein was "concerned about exactly how we play this" given "the variety and number of different things being discussed in the media and online."
Epstein [wrote to Krauss](/drive/vol00011-efta02495716-pdf) on March 22, 2018: "Every email is to do with engagement/money etc. in the future please do not disclose our conversations or who I speak with!!!!!"
Krauss retained Dillon in early April 2018, emailing on April 4: ["paperwork done and retainer sent"](/drive/vol00009-efta00840621-pdf). Dillon provided advice about Krauss's April 10 OEI interview, recommending it be treated as an "information session" only.
Throughout February-March 2018, Epstein provided ongoing advice as Krauss navigated the public allegations and Arizona State University's Title IX investigation. On February 28, 2018, Epstein [cautioned Krauss](/drive/vol00011-efta02517985-pdf): "sorry, you were advised to stay indoorss while the storm passed. you repeatedly went outside and put up some poles.. we now have to focus on the poles not falling on the house.. selective damage control.. congress, nsf. adam wrote that he was your litigation counsel. you will need to address. why universties have RESTRICTED your access. in the past.. forget about defamiltion allegation. libel. slander."
On March 6, 2018, when another article appeared about Krauss, he [wrote to Epstein](/drive/vol00011-efta02511821-pdf): "They won't let up. My story going out tomorrow. Damn the torpedoes. That is my feeling today." He [later added](/drive/vol00011-efta02511976-pdf): "And then after the statement I am going to engage in a twitter campaign against each of the buzzfeed journalists."
In April 2018, Krauss sent Epstein a satirical message proposing: ["Let's do a men of the world conference. Kevin spacey Bill Clinton al franken Woody Allen"](/drive/vol00011-efta02481657-pdf). This followed Epstein forwarding Krauss information about a "Women in the World Summit" focused on male misbehavior.
### Post-Settlement Coordination (October 2018-February 2019)
After signing the settlement agreement on October 19, 2018, Krauss immediately involved Epstein in post-settlement matters. On October 20, 2018, Krauss [forwarded the fully executed settlement](/drive/vol00009-efta01019075-pdf) to Epstein ("J") and asked for his advice on the retirement letter and terminating Justin Dillon as attorney. Epstein replied: "yes, terminate."
By this point, Dillon was expressing frustration with how Krauss was conducting the representation. Dillon wrote: "now that we have signed the deal, I don't want to be sending emails you dictate anymore. I was willing to go along with that when we were in the final stages of getting the deal done, but it's not how I practice law." This suggests Krauss had been dictating emails for Dillon to send throughout the settlement negotiations, with Epstein's guidance.
In late December 2018, Krauss [coordinated extensively with Epstein](/drive/vol00011-efta02606996-pdf) on moving Origins Project donations. On December 28-29, 2018, Krauss drafted a letter to 40-50 donors asking them to request refunds from ASU Foundation and redirect donations to the new Origins Project Foundation he was establishing.
On December 31, 2018, Krauss [drafted a letter to Leon Black](/drive/vol00009-efta01009838-pdf) about redirecting his donation and shared it with Epstein for approval: "I wanted to let you know first, in case you have a problem with it." The same day, Krauss [wrote to Epstein](/drive/vol00009-efta01009833-pdf): "ok, ok, ok. hope you can recover some of your dough. see you in January?"
In January-February 2019, [Richard Kahn worked with ASU Foundation](/drive/vol00011-efta02633422-pdf) to redirect approximately $632,000 ($607K from Leon Black Family Foundation, $25K from Enhanced Education) to MIT Media Lab, following Epstein's authorization.
### Sharing Defense Strategy with Other Prominent Figures
On December 11, 2017, Krauss [forwarded his BuzzFeed response](/drive/vol00011-efta02548795-pdf) to Sam Harris (cc: Travis Pangburn), defending himself against the allegations before the story was published. BuzzFeed had also contacted Sam Harris directly about the story, making Harris another figure in Krauss's network who was aware of and potentially involved in his defense strategy.
## Connections
Krauss's primary correspondent in the archive is [Jeffrey Epstein](/person/jeffrey-epstein-alias) himself, with 4,849 shared emails. His correspondence was facilitated through Epstein's assistant [Lesley Groff](/person/lesley-groff-nameonly) (272 shared emails), who managed scheduling and property access.
Krauss also appears in email exchanges involving [Noam Chomsky](/person/noam-chomsky) (156 shared emails), the linguist who also maintained contact with Epstein. In May 2011, Epstein's staff included both ["Dick Merkin and Lawrence Krauss"](/thread/EFTA02189412) on a list of people Epstein wanted to contact.
Other correspondents include [Cecile de Jongh](/person/cecile-de-jongh--2) (125 emails), who helped coordinate the November 2010 Virgin Islands conference, and [Carla Mahnke](/person/carla-mahnke) (106 emails), an Arizona State University official who contacted Krauss in 2018-2019 about ["new information my office has received related to the alleged conduct at the November 2016 Australian Skeptics Conference"](/thread/EFTA02492791).
Scientists listed in Epstein's contact lists alongside Krauss included [contacts for conferences](/drive/vol00011-efta02411305-pdf) include Mark Tramo, Roger Schank, Seth Lloyd, Marvin Minsky, Mark Hauser, Steve Kosslyn, Richard Axel, Victoria Stodden, Lee Smolin, Martin Nowak, Geoffrey West, Jerry Edelman, Robert Trivers, Nathan Wolfe, George Church, and Lisa Randall.
Krauss's connection to Richard Dawkins appears primarily through their professional collaborations. BuzzFeed's inquiry noted they made ["the documentary you made with biologist Richard Dawkins, called The Unbelievers"](/drive/vol00011-efta02548795-pdf) and that "a few dozen fans paid $500 per head to attend a VIP luncheon with you and Dawkins" at CSICon. The March 2008 American Atheists Convention incident involved ["attendees including you and Richard Dawkins went for dinner with the student"](/drive/vol00009-efta00927572-pdf).
## Document References
Krauss appears throughout Epstein's archived correspondence and scheduling documents. A November 2010 email thread documents Epstein directing a [$100,000 donation to the ASU Foundation Origins Project](/drive/vol00011-efta02412462-pdf) with instructions to "send to lawrence Krauss." The payment was to be made from Epstein's Enhanced Education foundation, with staff asking for ["mailing address for check"](/drive/vol00011-efta02412555-pdf).
The full financial picture emerges from ASU CFO Virginia DeSanto's analysis showing the Origins Project [received $3.3 million total](/drive/vol00009-efta01008505-pdf) from over 400 donors, with 76% coming from Leon Black and Epstein's foundations combined.
